When I walk around the courts I feel guilty at the number of people there who need real help and simply don't get it. Mothers with little children with no facilities for children, not even a tv to watch. Its time for a radical overhaul in the so-called criminal courts.They are simply outdated. There is too much focus on charges that simply do not justify the expense and the waste of peoples time for no real reason other than to keep police and court staff employed. Serious crime only should be dealt with in Courts. The rest of it should be dealt with if deemed necessary by some other process. The word criminal should be banned for a start. If people have been bashed, burgled or hurt then the court process should go ahead. Minor charges should not even get in the door. Its time that power was removed from the police force. deterrence is a bankrupt and victorian concept which doesn't work. Its time to move on and do something sensible and serious. All such decisions should be removed from any present participants as they only seek to perpetuate a system of which they are the chief beneficiary and I mean beneficiary.
