With the delays in the Court system in Auckland it can take up to two years for a serious case to get to trial. The Ureweras case in which I acted for Rangi Kaiwhiria Kemara took 4 and a half years to get to trial. It really is a war of attrition and it is important not to get overwhelmed by the charges you face. I acted in another major fraud trial which went through two trials and an appeal over a period of five years. Being able to actually conduct trials on behalf of people is a much more difficult task than simply advising people to plead guilty. It takes a lot of resilience and tenacity. It also requires a lot of trust from the client as there is obviously no guaranteed outcome in these situations. The only thing that can be guaranteed is maximum effort to try and get the best possible result for the person.
