Jeremy Bioletti Serious Fraud Lawyer Auckland New Zealand

The Serious Fraud Office has compulsory powers that is it can compell people to provide documents and information and it can also compell people to answer questions. Failure to comply can result in a sentence of imprisonment. When these powers were enacted some protection was however reserved for people who are required to answer questions that may be self incriminating. That protection albeit limited is that  the answers that people give in compulsory interviews cannot be used in evidence against them unless they give evidence at a trial and their evidence is different from their answers  in the interview.
