We are about to this week go into a lockout for unvaccinated people in NZ. About 20 per cent of the population, one million people, will be excluded by government decree from bars, cafes, restaurants, concerts festivals and many other places. This is by government mandate. At the same time, the government has given the green light to employers from workplaces to privately mandate employees and unvaccinated customers. This is in addition to the govt mandates for healthcare, teachers, border workers and soon the police force. Between govt mandates of unvaccinated workers and customers and private mandates of employees and customers, there will be a large lockout of one million people. The government believes this will force people to get vaccinated. The problem is with the shift from two shots vaxxed to three shots as a result of the ineffectiveness of the vaccines, there will be a drop off in the percentage of vaxxed as not everyone will go for booster shots to maintain fully vaccinated status. Under legislation rammed through parliament at an unconstitutional pace, the health bureaucrat can issue an order as to the number of shots that constitute fully vaccinated status. The government will have as it's legacy the exclusion of unvaxxed people from hairdressers and salons. For sheer pettiness and vindictiveness, only a labour admin and bureaucracy could come up with this one. It will have an impact on the vote at the next election. It is highly symbolic of a government that has demonstrated throughout a calculated style of degradation.
